The TRILLVISION Film Festival has announced the award winners for its 2025 Winter Drop Showcase, a hybrid event that brought together filmmakers and audiences for a three-day celebration of independent storytelling. The Winter Drop highlighted a diverse slate of short films and music videos, with award recipients selected through a combination of audience voting and programmer recognition.
Audience members played a central role in honoring standout work across multiple categories. The Audience Award for Outstanding Narrative Film was awarded to Slipping Away, directed by Sonya Leslie, while the Outstanding Documentary Film honor went to Bulosan: On American Democracy, Part 3, directed by Andres Luz. The Outstanding Animation Film award was presented to Serene and the Magic Seeds, directed by Jai Harris.
In the music category, the Audience Award for Outstanding Music Video was awarded to two projects: B-Tip Thang 2 Do (Barney Rubble), directed by Tyrone Richardson and James “B-Tip” Brown, and GAS, directed by Robin Harris Jr. The festival’s highest audience honor, Best of the Festival, was awarded to Straight Bull, directed by Adriohn Richardson.
In addition to audience-selected awards, the festival’s programming team recognized films that embodied the spirit and creative vision of the Winter Drop. The Programmers’ Spirit Award was presented to Complicated Grief, directed by Julius Amedume. The TRILL Award was awarded to Behind Her Smile, directed by Minda Harts, and Traffic Jam, directed by Jason Nicholls.
The 2025 Winter Drop reinforced TRILLVISION’s mission to elevate independent voices and create meaningful opportunities for filmmakers to connect with engaged audiences. With strong participation both in person and online, the showcase continued to position TRILLVISION as a growing platform for bold, culture-driven storytelling.
